Murray Parr; the journey so far…

Firstly, I am a committed Christian and I live Confidently in the Grace of God.

Secondly, I am very happily married to Angela. We have been married for almost 34 years, our four children all have partners and have blessed us with 10 grandchildren. My children have assured me that there may be more. I am rich in blessings beyond imagination, and I am definitely getting richer in love every year.

I worked alongside my dad for over 35 years. From the age of 18 I started working for him and my mum in a bakery, eventually going into partnership with them for many years. The day came when Angela and I bought them out, becoming business owners.

Angela and I worked together for the next 15 years with my mum and dad working for us.

Family life was busy with a 7 day a week business. It also provided our children with work opportunities and plenty of FREE pies, bread, cakes, and drinks.

A Career Change to Health and Wellness

In 1999 I decided that I didn’t want to be a crusty old baker all my life, so I said to Angela “I think I would like to change careers and become a massage therapist”. She encouraged me, saying “I think you would be good at that; you’ve got big hands”.

Within two years I had trained to be a remedial massage therapist. I still ran the bakery but also opened a massage clinic initially working from home. I worked night and day literally for the next 7 years. We sold the bakery in 2007, and I continued massaging, moving the clinic into town for the next 3 years.

In 2010 Ange and I decided to go for the trip of a lifetime to Africa. We spent 3 months traveling through 10 countries and ended up in Zimbabwe. Funny how things work out…. Ange and I met an Aussie man named Martin, who is married to Mercy a Zimbabwean. They have 4 kids and together they run a mission for abandoned babies as well as a small school and various other outreaches to the homeless, desperately poor, and sick people of Bulawayo. My heart was irreversibly touched, and we decided that Ange would go home to our kids, and I would stay in Zimbabwe for a further 3 months working as a volunteer. My life was now changed deep inside of me.

I eventually had to come home and be with my family and pick up from where I left off. Together, Ange and I opened a brand-new health clinic and from day one it has been very successful.

How I started in Hypnotherapy

I have now been in the health and wellness industry for over 23 years.

One day I opened my emails, as I do every morning, and read about a 3-day hypnotherapy course in Brisbane. I was always curious about hypnotherapy, so I signed up and did the course. I received my certificate and began to offer my clients my new-found skills.

I was surprised at first when I saw people’s lives change. People were gaining control of their weight, smokers quit for life, anxiety disappeared and so much more. The natural progression for me was to enrol in the Tad James Co Fast Trak NLP 7-day course. It was a life-changing experience. I decided that I wanted to learn more, help more people, and create a second stream of income. I wanted to push myself and discover what I was made of you, know what I mean?

So, I enrolled in the Master Practitioner NLP course. Sixteen days of self-discovery and I discovered that course was a giant leap forward in my life. I learned many useful interventions and other things that I could utilize working with my clients in therapy.

Professional NLP Mental Health Coach

How I became a Trainer and a Coach.

I was tempted to be satisfied with what I had learned and how I was using NLP, Time Line Therapy(R), Hypnotherapy, and Coaching in my clinic. I was achieving great results and it definitely proved to be worth the effort.

My Coach however helped me to see the bigger picture. I could learn to be a trainer who trains others to do what I had learned. I could help more people at one time rather than one person at a time.

It made sense, so I signed up for the Trainer’s Training so that I could teach. It was an intensive 24 days of hard work, but it paid off.

I passed my exams and came back to the clinic. I still have my clients for bodywork but have realised, after more than 20 years, that I have been working at the wrong end of a person’s body.
